Eight outs from their first World Series, the Seattle Mariners let it slip after a crushing loss to the Toronto Blue Jays.

It was the scream heard round the clubhouse.
As Mariners pitcher Bryan Woo was giving an interview after a brutal Game 7 ALCS defeat to the Blue Jays on Monday night, a guttural yell could be heard from nearby.
Reporters on the scene confirmed it was Julio Rodriguez, the Mariners' star center fielder, who was the one letting out his frustration after the season-ending 4-3 loss.
You could hear a loud scream out of frustration in a quiet Mariners clubhouse
A Raleigh home run in the fifth pushed the lead to 3-1 before Toronto put together a franchise-altering rally in the seventh inning.
The Blue Jays got the first two guys on against Woo before a sac bunt moved the runners to second and third. Woo was then replaced by Eduard Bazardo, who gave up a three-run homer to George Springer that gave Toronto the lead for good.
Rodriguez made the final out when he struck out swinging against Blue Jays closer Jeff Hoffman, on a pitch that would have been ball four with slugger Cal Raleigh on the on-deck circle.

Teary-eyed postgame interview Cal Raleigh could hardly hold it together

«I hate to use the word failure, but it's a failure,» Seattle star Cal Raleigh said. «What we expected was to get to the World Series and win a World Series. That's what the bar is and the standard is, and that's what we want to hold ourselves accountable to.»
Mariners manager Dan Wilson reiterated the heartbreak in his postgame scrum with the media.
«I know this stings and there's no question that it's going to sting,» Wilson said. «It's a special team in there. It's a shame that we had to come out on the wrong side of this one.»

A former catcher, Wilson played for Seattle from 1994 to 2005, reaching the ALCS three times. The Mariners had never gotten past Game 6...until this season.
