Alonso meets with Angels amidst talks with Blue Jays and Mets.

According to Sports Illustrated's Pat Ragazzo free agent first baseman Pete Alonso and his camp met with the Los Angeles Angels, as multiple sources told SI's Ragazzo.

As for the New York Mets, the door appears to be closed with Alonso, their homegrown franchise star, right now.

The Mets could very well move Mark Vientos to first base; and if they don't go with Brett Baty or Ronny Mauricio at third base, Jeff McNeil is a name as a possibility to move back to the hot corner where he saw some time in 2019 and 2020.

That doesn't mean things can't change on that front, but since last week nothing has changed: Alonso is still unlikely to return to Queens.

Alonso has been in talks with the Toronto Blue Jays but nothing was close there as of Friday afternoon.

The Blue Jays are a great fit for Alonso after signing another power slugger in Anthony Santander.

They're focused on extending first baseman/DH Vladimir Guerrero Jr.; they also have Bo Bichette and could see bounce-backs at the plate from Andres Gimenez, Alejandro Kirk and maybe even George Springer.

It looks like Alonso is waiting to see if the Mets raise their offer, it looks like Steve Cohen is not on the same page as he mentioned yesterday that the Mets are looking at other options.

Scott Boras is using the Angels and Blue Jays to try and get the Mets to up the ante.

Or he's just trying to get the most money for Alonso from any of the three teams which is most likely the case.

If Ross Atkins can manage to get this deal done, the Blue Jays offense will certainly be a force to be reckoned with next season with Vladimir Guerrero Jr, Anthony Santander and Alonso.
