The Toronto Blue Jays are looking to the four game sweep against the Athletics this afternoon at Rogers Centre. Athletics lefty JP Sears is on the mound this afternoon versus Blue Jays veteran Kevin Gausman. First pitch is at 1:37 PM ET on Sportsnet TVA Sports and NBC California. According to a few industry sources and now just a few minutes ago the team itself, the Blue Jays will call up Davis Schneider today in lieu of Daulton Varsho's injury.
ROSTER MOVES: UTIL Davis Schneider recalled from Triple-A and will be active today. Outfielder Daulton Varsho (left hamstring strain) placed on the 10-day IL. Reliever Erik Swanson reinstated from 60-day IL and will be active today. Left-handed pitcher Easton Lucas optioned to Triple-A
Varsho went down as he was rounding second base on Saturday night versus the Athletics and aggravated his left hamstring which resulted in him being pulled out of the game and getting an MRI.
Davis Schneider was pinch ran for after drawing a walk in the 1st inning tonight in Buffalo. There was no sign of injury. He appears headed to Toronto in the wake of Varsho's likely IL stint.
Multiple reports suggest the Blue Jays are calling up Davis Schneider to Toronto after sending him down last month as he was struggling at the plate.
