The Atlanta Braves are at it again.

A couple of weeks after signing former Toronto Blue Jays top pitching prospect Sean Reid-Foley Atlanta has signed another former Toronto farmhand, inking infielder Jordan Groshans to a minor league deal.
The Atlanta Braves have signed Jordan Groshans to a minor league contract. The infielder has a .267 batting average along with 260 RBI throughout his minor league career.

Groshans with a lot to prove, could be a make or break season

Selected 12th overall by Canada's team in the 2018 draft, Groshans' professional career got off to a rough start, as his first season was beset by injuries while his second was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Toronto eventually dealt him to the Miami Marlins, and while he made his debut with the team in 2022, the 17 major league games he appeared in that season are the totality of his big league experience.
Now 26, Groshans still has time to prove himself, though he will be in tough and hard-pressed to make the Braves' 40-man roster, let alone the opening day team, as Atlanta signed a host of middle infielders to offset the injury to Ha-Seong Kim, who will miss at least the first two months of the season.
This is the second straight offseason that Groshans has signed a minor league deal, after inking a similar contract with the Kansas City Royals in December of 2024.
Since his release from Miami, he has also appeared in minor league contests for both the New York Yankees and the-then Oakland Athletics

Potential hasn't translated into results

Whether it was the unfortunate circumstances that befell him at the start of his career, Groshans' results have never quite lived up to his expectations and potential that was heaped upon as a top prospect.
While he has time, 2026 could be a make or break year for the youngster.
