Beloved Sportsnet host continues to be an inspiration to kids and adults alike

Ever since he was 14, Jamie Campbell knew what he wanted to be. He had always been a fan of sports and his love of baseball in particular bordered on obsessive. He still has every baseball card he's ever owned. He has channeled that passion into becoming one of the most beloved sportscasters in the nation.
Whether it's calling Blue Jays games, which he did for five years, hosting Blue Jays Central, or announcing the first ever Olympic gold medal won on Canadian soil - his famous Bilodeau!!!! call still resonating 15 years on - Campbell knows the power and impact sports figures can have.
The beauty of sports is that it's a wonderful vehicle for dreaming. And in particular, for dreaming when you're young.
Campbell still remembers the moment that changed. He was 10 and at his first baseball game. He went down to get a closer look at the players. One in particular saw him and started up a chat, Twins superstar lyman bostock
... One player in particular, he must have sensed my presence behind him because he spun around in that chair and started this conversation with me. What's your name, where are you from?
It was the conversation that inspired Campbell to always talk to kids who come to visit SportsNet or Rogers Centre.
I thought to myself, there's no reason why, when I'm a grown man, I can't be involved this somehow too. I just find that the kids who come by to see us at the Rogers Centre, are very much like I would have been all those years ago.
Campbell further cemented his status as a national treasure after he announced he was battling leukemia and felt the love of a nation as he took on embraced a new role as advocate.
When asked to describe how it all feels, one word came to mind for Campbell: grateful.
