If there wasn't enough good news for the Blue Jays on Wednesday night, Bo Bichette provided some more.
Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette optimistic about being able to return from injury
"I've made a lot of progress recently, so I'm optimistic about my chances," Bichette said. "I still have some hurdles to clear, but I'm optimistic ... I've gotta run a little bit faster, but I'm feeling better every day."
Bichette hit vs. Max Scherzer & Chris Bassitt during a simulated game on Tuesday in Toronto. Ran lightly for first time since injury on Weds in NY.
"The last three days have been really positive" for Bo Bichette, says Blue Jays manager John Schneider. "He's making some strides."
Bichette had been doing light workouts to try to work his way back to the field.
Bichette's return would provide a boost at the plate for the Blue Jays in the ALCS
He was slashing .311/.357/.483 through 139 games while leading MLB in hits and doubles before the injury.
Bichette finished second in both categories despite missing the final 20 games of the season.
The Blue Jays will play the winner of Friday's Game 5 between the Detroit Tigers and Seattle Mariners in the ALCS.
Game 1 is on Sunday, and they will have until 10 a.m. ET Sunday morning to decide if Bichette will be included on the roster for the series.
