Blue Jays' Erik Swanson struggles are cause for serious concern going forward

The Toronto Blue Jays recently activated relief pitcher Erik Swanson who missed the first part of the 2025 season but they now have quite the problem on their hands.
The Blue Jays have been dealing with a quite a few injury issues this season especially when it comes to their bullpen which was missing multiple pitchers to start the season.

Swanson returned to the mound for the Blue Jays last week and to say things have gone poorly for him is quite the understatement as his ERA currently sits at 15.19 with 5.1 innings pitched.
In those 5.1 innings pitched, Swanson has given up 9 earned runs and 8 hits in that time while only striking out 3 batters which is far from what the Blue Jays expected from him when he came back.
This has been a tough stretch for Erik Swanson since returning from the IL. He's now allowed nine runs over 5 1/3 IP. I've still been a big believer in Swanson while he's worked through these injuries, but playing catch-up after spring setbacks is always challenging. #BlueJays
Against the Phillies, things continued to go poorly for Swanson as he gave up 2 hits and 4 earned runs in 0.2 innings before being pulled from the game which included a Nick Castellanos Grand Slam.

The Blue Jays are now in a tough spot as they need to figure out what to do with Swanson since if he is not able to figure things out, they will be forced to DFA him.
It likely will not be long before he is gone unless he can drastically turn his game around.
