Former Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette will be returning to the Rogers Centre on Canada Day weekend for the first time as a New York Met.

The first meeting between Bichette and his former Blue Jays teammates will be on Feb. 23 and March 15 during spring training, which will be an appetizer for the Mets regular-season series at Rogers Centre from June 29 to July 1.
The schedule has Bichette back at Rogers Centre for a three-game set from June 29 to July 1, ending with Toronto's annual Canada Day matinee.
Bo Bichette's return to Toronto with the #Mets will take place from June 29 to July 1. It'll be a three-game series that will culminate with the #BlueJays' annual Canada Day matinee. Should be quite the occasion!
When you look at the numbers, it makes sense why the Mets pushed hard to sign Bichette.
In 2025 he hit .311 with 181 hits, 18 home runs, 94 RBIs, and a .840 OPS across 139 games.
Players like Bichette aren't easy to find. The Blue Jays will keep trying to develop one, but that can take years.

Bo Bichette returns to the city that embraced him with open arms

Blue Jays fans will get their first live look at Bichette in another uniform on Monday, June 29, when the Mets make their first visit of the 2026 season to Rogers Centre.
Bichette is still only 27, and he was Toronto's 66th overall pick back in 2016, so this one lands different than a late career cameo. This is a prime player, walking back into a park that used to feel like his.
On the field, the chess match is simple even if the emotions are not. The Blue Jays staff will try to get him off the plate early, and the Mets will happily let him hunt mistakes with runners aboard.
The fit in New York is the other wrinkle, because Francisco Lindor already owns shortstop.
However it plays, that July 1 finish is built for a moment, not just a result. Circle it now, then see if the Blue Jays can turn the emotion into two quick wins.
