We are better than this, Blue Bird Nation.

While many Blue Jays fans have understandably voiced their frustration at the franchise after they failed to sign Roki Sasaki, some on social media are taking it too far, saying they hope the pitcher suffers a career-ending injury during his tenure with the Dodgers.
It is not a good look and needs to stop. It is not who we are as fans; it is not who we are as Canadians.
People are frustrated, disappointed, annoyed, jaded, and even angry. And that makes perfect sense. The last 14 months hav been let down after let down. But wishing that harm befalls someone because he didn't choose us is a wildly inappropriate reaction. Baseball is, after all, only a game.
Some fans are going beyond Sasaki too. Some are wishing a similar fate would befall both Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Shohei Ohtani. Others have extended those prayers to the entire Dodgers organization.
One fan, in an act of purely vile behaviour, wished that Sasaki would end up like Hideki Irabu. For those not in the know, Irabu was a star pitcher in Japan, whose sale to the Padres, created the posting system now in effect. He ended up playing seven lack-luster years in America before returning to Japan. He died by suicide in 2011.
We are better than this Blue Jays fans. We are upset, but we will get over it. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. could still sign that extension and all would be well. But let's stop with the threats.
