The Toronto Blue Jays have a surplus of outfielders. While it's a good problem to have, it also means that one or more will be traded.

One name that has popped up recently as a likely candidate to be dealt is a player who is both well-liked and had moderate success last year: Joey Loperfido.
While the popular player only garnered 96 at-bats in 41 games at the major league level last year - which was no fault of his own - when he did play, he performed quite well.
In his time on the major league roster, Loperfido hit .333. with four home runs and 14 RBIs.
However, Loperfido is also a victim of circumstance and a crowded outfield. In addition to him, there were eight other players who saw time in the outfield last season.
With the emergence of Nathan Lukes - Anthony Santander expected to be healthy in 2026 and with the Kyle Tucker rumours not going away, it's a situation that could get even more complicated.
According to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand, Loperfido is the most likely candidate to be moved in a trade this winter for pitching.
"Loperfido spent most of 2025 stuck behind an outfield logjam in Toronto, appearing in only 41 games. He produced when given the opportunity, Feinsand wrote. Loperfido hit four homers with 14 RBIs and an .879 OPS in 104 plate appearances, and with five years of club control remaining, the 26-year-old could be part of a deal to land some pitching in Toronto."
At the same time, Loperfido is a prime trade piece and an attractive option for many teams.
Still just 26, Loperfido has five years of club control remaining and the Blue Jays would be wise to move him to land some pitching help, be it a starter, reliever, or a league-ready prospect.
The Blue Jays could also look to package him with Jose Berrios, who seems to have become expendable following the signing of Dylan Cease. Those two together could net a big haul for Toronto.

Unknown if Blue Jays have received any offers

As it is still relatively early on in the Hot Stove season, it is unknown whether or not the Blue Jays have received any offers in regards to Loperfido.
But they're likely to listen should one come in.
