Three games in and the Blue Jays have made their first roster moves of the regular season. The following moves have been announced:
Keegan Matheson also notes that
Easton Lucas has a locker in the Blue Jays clubhouse.
Lovelady's time with the Blue Jays ends almost as quickly as it began. The lefthander took the loss in Saturday's after giving up four runs in the fourth inning. He finishes his Blue Jays tenure with an 0-1 record, a 21.60 ERA, and 2.40 WHIP in two games.
In his place is Fluharty, the Blue Jays number 19 overall prospect who turned some heads at camp with a strong spring, The Jays have been high on Fluharty for a while and are finally giving him a chance to prove his worth at the major league level.
The Blue Jays have also recalled Lucas and added him to the active roster. In a corresponding move, Scherzer has been placed on the 15-day IL with right thumb inflammation.
Lucas didn't have great success in his brief stint with the Blue Jays last year but was stretched out as a starter this spring and seems to have a future as rotation depth.
The Blue Jays transaction page also noted that Tommy Nance, who was DFA'd prior to opening day, appears to have his accepted an outright assignment and will remain with Triple-A Buffalo.
