The New York Mets do not seem to be very happy with superstar Juan Soto right now which is making the Toronto Blue Jays front office look very good after they missed out on him in free agency.
The Metropolitans signed Soto to the biggest deal in MLB history with a 15-year $765 million contract and most thought he would once again be one of the best players in baseball this season but that has not been the case so far.
The Mets are having a lot of issues with Soto lately
He has been off to a strange start so far this season with the club batting .246 with an .379 obp which is not awful but not what everyone expected at this point in the season.
Soto enters Monday slashing .246/.379/.443 on the season for a Mets team that's in first place in the competitive National League East. But that doesn't tell the whole story. -Palattella
Not only that but the team has also mentioned how it feels like Soto has not been hustling so far this season which Soto does not agree with but manager Carlos Mendoza stated that that they would talk to him about it.
Juan Soto pushes back on the accusations that he hasn't been hustling Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said that the team would speak to Soto about running out of the box
After all this, the Blue Jays are probably happy they avoided all of this drama but at the same time it is clear that the club would have benefited from adding Soto especially when looking at their lack of offense so far this year.
