The Blue Jays have not seen the last of Jonatan Clase. The speedy outfielder was optioned back to Triple-A Buffalo following Sunday's double-header against the New York Yankees. The outfielder was called up earlier in the day to act as the 27th man for the twin bill.

The speedster is off to a hot start in Buffalo, batting 343 with 13 stolen bases in his first 22 games. Clase made the start in the first game of the double header, going 0-4.
While Clase won't provide the power bat the Blue Jays so desperately need, his speed and his ability to get on base, could provide an extra spark and help push more runs across the board.
And while the Jays will soon have their starting three outfielders with Daulton Varsho's anticipated return coming on Tuesday, neither Addison Barger nor Nathan Lukes have been hitting particularly well and with how well he is currently playing, Clase easily deserves a longer look at the major league level.
The youngster from the Dominican Republic originally signed with the Seattle Mariners as an International Free Agent in 2018. After working his way up to Triple-A Tacoma, he finally made his debut with Seattle in 2024. In 19 games for the club, he hit .195 with three RBIs.
He was traded to the Blue Jays along with catcher Jacob Sharp at last year's trading deadline. He appeared with the big league club in Toronto late in the year, going 7-20, with a .435 OBP and a .550 SLG and one double and two RBIS. He also hit his first major league home run.
Clase returns to Triple-A, for now, but should be back with the Blue Jays before too long.
