Blue Jays' Spring Training debuts give us first look at Okamoto, prospects

The Spring Training matchup between the Toronto Blue Jays and Philadelphia Phillies saw a pair of third basemen make debuts for their respective clubs.
For fans of Canada's team, they got their first look at Japanese slugger Kazuma Okamoto, who signed a four-year, $60MM deal with the club in January.
The 29-year old played four innings, batting sixth, going 0-3 at the plate.

On the Phillies side of things, Okamoto's counterpart was Christian Cairo, who signed a minor league contract with Philadelphia in the offseason.
Longtime fans of the Jays might recognize the last name as Cairo's father Miguel spent 17 years in the majors, making his debut with Toronto all the back in 1996.
Cairo the elder has also been a coach and manager with the Chicago White Sox Washington Nationals, and Baltimore Orioles since 2021.
Another player who made his spring debut was pitcher Adam Macko, who struck out a pair in two scoreless innings.
It was important for Toronto to get a look at the 25-year old before he departs for the World Baseball Classic, where he will suit up for Team Canada.
Toronto Blue Jays beat the Philadelphia Phillies 3-0 in their spring debut, tomorrow they face the Boston Red Sox. First pitch 1:07 PM ET on Sportsnet.
Baseball is officially back.
