Double-A top pitching prospect Trey Yesavage was chased in the third inning of second double-A start against the New York Yankees Double-A affiliate Somerset Patriots.

Wednesday night's contest had the makings of another excellent start for Yesavage, but things came off the rails in the third inning for the Blue Jays' top pitching prospect.
It was Yesavage's second start with the double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats after being promoted early last week.
Yesavage came out of the gates firing against the Somerset Patriots - an affiliate of the New York Yankees - retiring seven of the first eight batters he faced.
Through two innings, Toronto's 2024 first-rounder allowed just one baserunner via a walk and struck out two, but after striking out the leadoff hitter in the third frame, the Patriots flipped the script on Yesavage.
It began with a double from Max Burt and RBI single from Roc Riggio.
Then, George Lombard Jr. worked a six-pitch walk, which was followed by a strikeout, another walk and a bases-clearing double off the wall by first baseman Dylan Jasso, bringing four runs across the plate in the inning.
That marked the end of Yesavage's night, having thrown 2.2 innings and 54 pitches. He was replaced by reliever Nate Garkow, who induced a flyout to bring the third to an end.
Yesavage's final line read: three hits, four earned runs, three walks and four strikeouts.
It's the first time in the 21-year-old's professional career that the righty's allowed more than three runs in an outing and just the first time since May 13 that he surrendered three or more hits.
With his four strikeouts, Yesavage moved back into a tie with Canadian right-hander Jonah Tong for the minor-league lead with 96 on the season.
