Toronto Blue Jays rookie Trey Yesavage was tipping his splitter early in Game 2 of the American League Division Series against the New York Yankees.

Blue Jays Manager John Schneider spoke with the media yesterday on Seranthony Dominguez tipping his pitches to the Yankees, and the adjustments he needs to make to clean it up.
The Yankees are rather skilled when it comes to picking up on pitchers' tells, but relaying that information in a subtle manner is a different story, as the team has been caught in the perfectly legal act on multiple occasions.

MLB reporter for Athlon Sports Zac Kaplan was the first to notice that Yesavage has tells on his fastball and splitter.
Kaplan points out that Yesavage's stance, the way he plants, and the width of his feet are different between the two pitches.
As I suspected, Yesavage was tipping. I figured the giveaway would be a pre-pitch flex in his throwing arm, but he leans considerably forward when he threw a splitter. Feet more together on splitter. First inning:
Kaplan admitted after a further look, it was a sporadic tip. Yesavage wasn't doing this on every splitter, fastball, but certainly during the early part of his start.
Yesavage was unreal purely because he hides his pitches so well in that rare arm slot.
It's surprising that he doesn't wear long sleeves as other splitter-heavy pitchers, like Gausman do. If a 1B/3B coach can see his forearm as he finds the grip, it flexes on a splitter.
Picking up tells is something the Yankees have been known to do well.
Of course, Yesavage is so nasty that they couldn't get to second base to relay signs in the first place.
Secondly even if they did and knew what was coming they probably wouldn't be able to hit it anyway.
The point is, the Yankees had an advantage and maybe missed it. Trey is nasty, it didn't make a difference.
Toronto is now one win away from defeating last year's American League winners and advancing to the American League Championship Series for the first time since 2016.
