Eric Lauer earned the win in his last outing over the Diamondbacks at Rogers Centre, allowing a run on four hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out eight.
Lauer was excellent, blanking Arizona for five innings before ultimately allowing a leadoff triple in the sixth to Corbin Carroll, who came around to score after the Jays turned to the bullpen.
The 30-year-old Lauer lowered his ERA to 2.29 through 35.1 innings this season, which is accompanied by a 0.93 WHIP and 36:11 K:BB.
The left-hander certainly made a case to remain in Toronto's rotation going forward, even with Max Scherzer (thumb) nearing a return from the IL.
Lefty Logan Allen gets the ball for the Guardians. In his last outing Allen earned the win over San Francisco, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out four batters over 5.1 innings.
Allen cruised through four scoreless frames before giving up a two-run homer to Heliot Ramos in the fifth.
The lefty hurler finished that inning and was brought out for the sixth but faced just one batter, whom he retired before being lifted at 95 pitches.
Though that prevented him from notching consecutive quality starts for the first time this season, the outing as a whole was a positive one for Allen, who has picked up two straight wins for the first time on the campaign while giving up just four runs across 11.1 innings in those outings.
Jose Ramirez has 16 doubles, a triple and 13 home runs for the Guardians. Steven Kwan is 11 for 37 with three doubles and a home run over the past 10 games.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has 16 doubles and 10 home runs for the Blue Jays. Ernie Clement is 19 for 41 with three doubles and a home run over the last 10 games.
