Starting pitcher overview
Lazaro Estrada gets the ball for Toronto. He made it to the majors for the first time last year, pitching in two games, 7.1 innings. He was hit pretty hard, 10 hits in 7.1 innings, but he also had 10 strikeouts.
He pitched most of the 2025 season in Buffalo. He had a 5.73 ERA in 26 games, 25 starts, with a 5.73 ERA. In 97.1 innings, he had 99 strikeouts and 32 walks.
Estrada has two option years left, but this is a pretty important year for him, if he's going to have a major league career.
Janson Junk gets the ball for the Marlins today. In his last outing Junk struck out two batters and allowed one hit and no walks over a scoreless inning of relief in in a 5-4 loss to the Astros in Grapefruit League play.
Junk went down with a Grade 1 right ankle sprain early in camp, but after advancing through his throwing program over the last few weeks, he was finally cleared to make his spring debut Saturday.
The 30-year-old right-hander made 16 of his 21 appearances with the Marlins last season as a starter, but the ankle issue may have cost him whatever small chance he had at a spot in Miami's Opening Day rotation.
Junk should still be in good shape to break camp with the big club as a long man out of the bullpen.
