Toronto Star columnist Rosie Dimanno sat down with Bo Bichette in an interview on Monday and talked about his future in Toronto amongst other things.
The homegrown shortstop has been in Toronto his entire career and with everything he has faced over the last six years, he admitted that if he were to leave Toronto next season, it certainly would not be easy.
"Honestly, with the ups and downs we've had as an organization in the past six years - super high, super lows, and getting to the point where we've gotten now, it would be really tough not to see it through..."It would be tough for me to leave.'' - Bo Bichette
Obviously Bichette wants to stay in Toronto with how things have been going, but unfortunately it is not necessarily up to him.
The front office will have to make him a an offer worthy of him to stay.
After a single and a double in Mondays 8-4 win over the Chisox, Bichette is third (794) on the Blue Jays all-time hits list by a shortstop.
Only Tony Fernandez (1239) and Alfredo Griffin (813) are head of him.
During the interview, Bichette also spoke about his flexibility when it comes to his spot in the lineup and wants to be wherever he can help the team win.
"I'm open to seeing where we can get better, if that's something that they think is better for the team,'' Bichette told the Star during a dugout interview early Sunday morning
There hasn't been any details yet if Ross Atkins has had any discussions with Bichette about a contract extension, however the way things are going there is an excellent chance this front office will lock Bo up for the foreseeable future.
