A former Toronto Blue Jays player is coming clean.
When Bo Bichette returned to the team during the World Series, many thought that it would push the team over the top, cement Bo as a franchise icon and keep the two-time All-Star in Canada for years to come.
Alas, after the Toronto Blue Jays team fell just short in their quest for glory, Bichette ended up signing a three-year deal with the New York Mets, ending nearly a decade of Blue Jays association.
Health-wise, Bo Bichette says he wasn't in a good place during the World Series, other than to hit.
"I'm feeling good now, and that's all that matters."
"I'm feeling good now, and that's all that matters."
In a recent appearance on the Foul Territory podcast, Bichette opened up about the true state of his health during the epic, seven-game contest.
"Hitting, I was totally fine, I had no issues hitting. Everything else, I don't know if I'm not going to give a percentage on it, but I wasn't in a good place, for sure.»
Departure seemed inevitable
While Bichette looked good in the batter's box, and even hit an iconic three run home run in Game 7, he evidently wasn't fully physically capable at 2nd base.
And though manager John Schneider indicated that Bo felt "completely fine" following his return, that might have been a bit of gamesmanship on the skipper's part.
Bo has always reticent and reserved; the introverted counterpart to Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s exuberant personality. Now we are seeing the reason's why.
Once the World Series concluded and the Blue Jays got further into the offseason, it seemed almost an inevitability that Toronto would open 2026 without their longtime shortstop.
Whether Bichette's feelings and health status during the series had anything do with it remains to be seen.
Wishing him well in 2026.
