The Toronto Blue Jays' 2-1 loss Thursday at American Family Field was frustrating for its own reasons, even if it felt like deja vu.

For the second straight game, the Toronto Blue Jays’ bats went completely cold and were beaten by the small-ball approach of the Milwaukee Brewers.
Manager John Schneider shared his thoughts on tensions flaring up between Brewers reliever Tyler Megill and the Blue Jays dugout in a post game presser with reporters on Thursday.
“As a person, you don't appreciate when another grown man yells what he did in your face. So you just kind of react in the moment, said Schneider. But we got other stuff to worry about other than that, he’s got other stuff to worry about.”

Megill explains why he was jawing with the Blue Jays dugout

In a post game interview with the Milwaukee Sentinel's Todd Rosiak, Megill provided some context on the bizarre verbal altercation that happened between he and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. during the 8th inning of the ballgame.
According to Megill The Blue Jays were upset because he was rubbing the baseball against his pants, which sparked all the jawing.
"I was rubbing balls on my leg, Schneider [John] was complaining about it, I looked at him and said I promise I don't have anything on there, and immediately got (expletives) from their bench
All jawing aside, the biggest takeaway from this series and what has undoubtedly been the biggest storyline of the 2026 season for the Blue Jays has been their offence.
In their last two games against the Brewers, they amassed just 11 hits and two runs, leaving 11 runners on base in the process.
A pitching staff that had recently been struggling has delivered 16 innings over the past two games, allowing just four runs on 12 hits, yet it was still not enough for the Jays to pick up their second series win of the season.
Tonight, the Blue Jays travel to the desert to begin a three-game set with the Diamondbacks, in hopes of turning the page towards their winning ways.
Eric Lauer will be on the mound against Canadian Michael Soroka for a 9:40 pm EST start time.
