Buffalo Bisons hire new hitting coach

It was announced that the Buffalo Bisons have hired Trevor Cho as assistant hitting coach for the upcoming season. The news was made public by Cho himself on his X page.

Cho comes to the team from Madison College in Wisconsin, where he had been serving as assistant baseball coach for the past couple of seasons. In his first year, he helped guide the WolfPack to a 45-14 record, culminating in the Region 4 Championships and a 5th place finish in the NCAA Division II World Series.

Prior to his time at Madison, he was manager of the Lakeshore Chinooks and was also a baseball coach and recruiting coordinator at STiKS Academy in Waukesha.

Prior to coaching, Cho played collegiate baseball at NCAA Division III UW-Whitewater (2018-19) and NCAA Division II St. Cloud State (2016-17). Additionally, he played two seasons with the Rochester Ridgemen of the New York Collegiate Baseball League and one summer with the Chugiak Eagle-River Chinooks of the prestigious Alaska Baseball League. He graduated UW-Whitewater in 2020 with degree in Communications.

As a prep, Cho was a four-year player at Homestead High School in Mequon, Wisconsin, where he earned First Team All-State as an infielder. The Highlanders finished runner-up in the 2014 WIAA Summer Baseball Division 1 Tournament.

Cho is the 2nd Division II hire for the Blue Jays organization this offseason, following the hiring of Jacob Caples out of Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia. Like Cho, Caples will also be serving as a minor league hitting instructor.

Good coaching is important at all levels and the fact that Cho is headed straight to Buffalo speaks volumes about his experience and how highly regarded he has been as a college coach.

Hopefully, we will see some of his students in the major leagues soon.
