Chris Bassitt says he's still not over the Toronto Blue Jays' World Series loss.
The Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers delivered a World Series for the ages, though it’s far easier to appreciate the drama from the winning side.
After going from worst to first in the American League East, the Blue Jays eliminated the New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners in order to reach their third World Series in franchise history.
The Blue Jays, champions in 1992 and 1993, stood on the brink of another title.
Instead, it was the Dodgers who seized the moment.

Los Angeles captured Games 6 and 7 at Rogers Centre in agonizing fashion, celebrating on Toronto’s home field while becoming MLB’s first back-to-back champions since the Yankees’ dynasty run from 1998 to 2000.
Former Blue Jays starter Chris Bassitt, the heartbreak hasn’t faded.
Speaking to The Baltimore Banner, Bassitt didn’t sugarcoat the outcome.
"We failed. A lot of people will say, 'You didn't really fail. There wasn't really a loser in that World Series.' No, we lost. We failed"

Bassitt says the Orioles give him the best chance to win
Signed by Toronto to a three-year, $63 million contract in December 2022, Bassitt was a steady presence in the club’s rotation during his tenure.
Now approaching his 37th birthday, he begins a new chapter after agreeing to a one-year, $18.5 million deal with the Baltimore Orioles.
The biggest reason Bassitt agreed to come to Baltimore was his confidence in the the Orioles group heading into the 2026 season.
Chris Bassitt on why he signed with the Orioles:
"No. 1 reason is a chance to win, and not just win a couple games, but win a World Series, and I think this team has the ability to do that"

While time and distance may dull the memory for some, Bassitt’s words make it clear the loss still lingers, a reminder of just how close the Blue Jays came to reclaiming baseball’s ultimate prize.
