Starting pitchers and team overviews for game two

Max Scherzer (2-2) allowed two runs on six hits and three walks while striking out five over six innings in his last outing to take the loss versus the Dodgers.
Scherzer put in a decent effort, but Clayton Kershaw was just a little better for the Dodgers. Scherzer's 98 pitches were a season high, and he threw 63 strikes to earn his third straight quality start, though he's taken both of his losses on the year during that span.
He's now at a 4.21 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 49:11 K:BB through 47 innings across nine starts this season.
Mathew Boyd (11-5) took the loss in his last outing, giving up three runs on seven hits over five innings as the Cubs fell 5-0 to the Cardinals. He struck out three without walking a batter.
Hits came in bunches against the veteran southpaw, resulting in a one-run second inning and a two-run fifth for St. Louis, and a lack of run support left Boyd with no margin for error.
He's gone three straight outings without getting into the win column since having a five-start win streak snapped, but he's remained tough to square up.
Boyd's served up only one home run over those last eight trips to the mound, a stretch in which he's posted a 1.80 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 42:8 K:BB in 50 innings.
Toronto has a 70-51 record overall and a 39-20 record in home games.
Chicago has a 68-51 record overall and a 32-28 record in road games.
The Cubs have a 29-11 record in games when they did not give up a home run.

Key Players to Watch

Ernie Clement is batting .286 with 23 doubles, two triples, nine home runs and 21 walks.
Guerrero provides the Blue Jays with a supply of both power and average, leading the team in home runs with 19 and hitting at .300. He has also knocked in 64 runs this season.
Bo Bichette's 78 runs batted in lead his team. Bichette is 73rd in home runs and 12th in RBI among all hitters in the majors.
Kyle Tucker has 18 home runs, 76 walks and 62 RBIs while hitting .271 for the Cubs.
Dansby Swanson is 11 for 42 with a double, two home runs and six RBIs over the past 10 games.
