Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Will Klein says trash talk by Toronto Blue Jays closer Jeff Hoffman sparked their late comeback win in Game 7 of the World Series.
I've heard of sore losers before, but sore winners?
If you look back to the fourth inning of Saturday's fateful game at the Rogers Centre, with the Blue Jays leading 3-1 at the time and both dugouts, and bullpens emptied after Dodgers reliever Justin Wrobleski fired a 96 mph fastball up and in on Jays hitter Andres Gimenez.
The Blue Jays shortstop was hit on the hand, but before proceeding to first base took exception, stared down Wrobleski and then yelled some unpleasantries at him.
Soon after, players spilled onto the field in an incident that didn't escalate into haymakers and quickly settled down.
Klein alleges Hoffman's trash talk was his own undoing in Game 7
Which brings us to Dodgers pitcher Will Klein's recollection of the festivities.
Klein alleges that one of the players Hoffman was chirping at was Miguel Rojas and that the generally light-hitting Dodgers infielder remembered the incident when he went to the plate in the ninth.
Fired up, according to Klein, Rojas deposited a Hoffman mistake over the wall in left field to tie the game and eventually send it to extra innings.
«You kind of saw it coming,» Klein said at a media event for the Dodgers back in L.A. this week as the celebrations for the two-time reigning champs continued.

«We cleared with them and Hoffman was kind of yelling at Miggy and Kirby (Yates), and he was the first to walk away. And it was like does he have it? If you're going to talk crap and walk away It was kind of inevitable Miggy was going to go and hit that off of him.»
While it would be a stretch to suggest the incident decided the game, it was a talking point in the early going. The Jays led 3-1 at that point and, for most of the night, had the game well in hand.
Rojas apparently didn't make any comments about his interactions with Hoffman, either.
