Eloy Jimenez named Buffalo Bisons Player of the Week after strong Triple-A start

Buffalo Bisons outfielder Eloy Jimenez is off to an impressive start in Triple-A this season, and if his early success continues, a return to the Toronto Blue Jays could come sooner rather than later.
A former top prospect, Jiménez turned heads during spring training with Toronto, posting a .286/.333/.524 slash line along with two home runs and four doubles across 45 plate appearances.
Despite his strong spring showing, Jiménez did not make the Opening Day roster and was instead assigned to Triple-A Buffalo.
Carrying over his spring momentum, Jiménez has looked like his old self to begin the Triple-A campaign.
In 24 at-bats, Jimenez is hitting .375 with nine hits, including a double and a home run, while driving in five runs. He’s also posted a .524 slugging percentage and a .971 OPS.
ELOY!!! JIMENEZ!!! 2 RUN HOME RUN!
His performance earned him Buffalo Bisons Player of the Week honors and has reinforced the idea that he could soon force his way back into the majors.

Jimenez looks poised and ready for a big-league return

With a crowded outfield and limited opportunities at designated hitter, his path to the majors out of camp was always going to be difficult. There simply wasn’t a clear fit at the time.
However, that situation could change quickly. An injury or an early-season slump at the big-league level may open the door.
If Jiménez continues producing at this level, it may only be a matter of time before he gets another opportunity.
Ultimately, his path back to the big leagues comes down to one thing: sustained offensive production.
If he keeps hitting, Jiménez could earn another shot, and potentially play a role for a team with postseason ambitions.
