For some reason, there are already Jeff Hoffman trade rumours

Here's something I bet you didn't have on your Monday bingo card; the TToronto Blue Jays could trade Jeff Hoffman. Yes, the trade deadline is still more than two months away and insiders are already speculating about who will be buyers and who will be sellers. With the Blue Jays teetering somewhere in the middle, it could go either way.
While there hasn't been any buzz from within the confines of Rogers Centre, several outlets are already postulating of a potential trade of Hoffman to, specifically, the Detroit Tigers.
While it may seem highly unlikely that they would their best reliever whom they just signed for $33MM, if the Blue Jays become sellers once again, it is not entirely inconceivable.
That being said, trading Hoffman is incredibly unlikely and feels like a step backward. But what are the facts?
The Tigers are looking to further upgrade their bullpen, while a trade could bring some good young hitters to Toronto, something the team does need more of.
With the exception of two games earlier last week, Hoffman has been lights out so far for the Blue Jays this season. He is 3-1 with a 3.79 ERA and nine saves in 10 chances. If he keeps ups with those numbers, he will a very attractive piece for teams looking to upgrade.
Still, it wouldn't make sense for the Blue Jays to trade Hoffman so soon after signing him. The front office - Ross Atkins and Mark Shapiro - and manager John Schneider still believe that the Blue Jays are a winning team. If there are above .500. at the trade deadline, then they become not sellers.
Even if the season gets away from them, trading Hoffman feels like a very remote possibility.
Time will tell.
