Trey Yesavage's phenominal story in 2025 is one that all of baseball didn't see coming, including the Toronto Blue Jays.

Yesavage was the consensus third-best pitcher available in the 2024 Draft, behind top-five picks Chase Burns and Hagen Smith.
He outdueled Burns in NCAA regional play despite having a lung partially collapsed after dry needling treatment went awry, then went 20th overall to the Blue Jays.
Congratulations to ECU Baseball RHP Trey Yesavage on being selected No. 20 overall (slot value: $4,073,400) in the 2024 MLB Draft by the Blue Jays. Came back from collapsed lung late in season to outduel Chase Burns in regional elimination game.
The only reason he lasted that long was that some clubs had medical concerns about his back.
Toronto envisioned Yesavage as a guy who could fit in the front half of a big league rotation on a contender, which was correct.
It just happened much quicker than anyone expected.
Yesavage has been a Dunedin Blue Jay, a Vancouver Canadian, a New Hampshire FisherCat, a Buffalo Bison and back to a Blue Jay.
He's pitched in Dunedin, Fla.; Vancouver, British Columbia; Manchester, N.H.; Buffalo, N.Y. and Toronto. All in the past eight months.
"Along the way, every pitching coach had an amazing mentality, knew how to help me where I needed help but not, like, reshape who I am as a pitcher," Yesavage said. "All the support staff, as in strength coaches, nutritionists, trainers, across this organization, they're all phenomenal, and I give everybody in this organization a lot of credit."

Then Yesavage reached a new destination, the MLB postseason

His postseason debut in the ALDS against the New York Yankees put the baseball world on notice. There is a new kid in town.

However, it's was until game 5 of the World Series that everyone on the planet knew Trey Yesavage's name.
On October 29th, Yesavage utterly dominated the entire Dodgers lineup for a record 12 K's by a rookie in a World Series game, which led to a 6-1 victory over Los Angeles.
Trey Yesavage has 12 strikeouts, the MOST by a rookie pitcher in a #WorldSeries game! He struck out all nine members of the Dodgers' lineup before the sixth inning!
Yesavages historic season ended when his team was up 4-3 in the 8th inning of game 7 of the World Series.
A Postseason to remember for Trey Yesavage 👏
He was pulled in favor of Blue Jays closer Jeff Hoffman, who gave up a game tying home run to Miguel Rojas.
The game remained tied 4-4 until the 11th inning when Shane Bieber gave up the game winning home run to Dodgers catcher Will Smith.
A heartbreaking finish to a whirlwind season that will live on forever in Blue Jays lore.
Baseball America and MLB pipeline ranked Trey Yesavage as the Blue Jays top prospect heading into 2026, the future is very...very bright.
