Bowden Francis took the mound for the Blue Jays, while Tomoyuki Sugano got the ball for the Orioles.
The Blue Jays got on the board straight away as
Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. opened the game with back-to-back doubles, giving the Jays an early 1-0 lead. Bichette added another RBI single in the second, and
Anthony Santander hit his first home run for the Blue Jays - and against his former team - in third, for a quick 3-0 lead.
Francis held the Orioles in check early, retiring the first 12 batters he faced. However, after walking Cedric Mullins, Heston Kjerstad hit a two home run in the fifth to pull the Orioles to within one.
Adley Rutschman hit a solo home run with two outs in the fifth and the wheels fell for Francis after that, who then walked Ryan O'Hearn, issued a wild pitch, a single to Jordan Westburg and then a two-out, two-run double to Mullins to give the O's the lead.
The Blue Jays got one back in the seventh. After Nathan Lukes doubled and Alan Roden singled, Bichette hit into a double play to bring Lukes home.
The Blue Jays made things interesting in the ninth. After Alejandro Kirk walked with one out in the ninth, Myles Straw came on as a pinch runner and promptly stole second base. Lukes walked and Alan Roden grounded both runners over to third. However, Felix Bautista struck out Bichette to end the game.
The Blue Jays and Orioles wrap up their series tomorrow with Jose Berrios being opposed by Cade Povich. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35PM ET.
