While Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider may have pledged his allegiance to Canada, the same cannot be said for some of the team's biggest players.
While the country was heartbroken once again after Jack Hughes scored in overtime to propel team USA to gold over Canada, one member of the Toronto Blue Jays was already celebrating: George Springer
The outfielder is one of the Jays hockey representatives, along with infielder Ernie Clement Such a fan is Springer that roughly 30 minutes after the game ended he stepped to the plate against Kevin Gausman in full team USA regalia. He'd been wearing it all morning. A cap too.

Members of foreign media baffled by Canadians seriousness towards hockey
Meanwhile John Schneider had placed his Team Canada jersey in front of Springer's locker prior to this morning's workout. While Springer showed his disapproval, it was all in good fun.
This isn't the first time Springer has expressed his hockey opinions. Last year, he was in favour of a Four Nations-style tournament for baseball. Maybe he can become honorary chairman.
Love for hockey isn't universal apparently. In Toronto's media room, Japanese and Latin reporters expressed bemusement and bewilderment over the Canadian contingent's supreme disappointment.
I guess the Blue Jays have to win the World Series now.
