Injury update on Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Joey Loperfido after being hit in knee by fastball

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Joey Loperfido had to be helped off the field by John Schneider and trainer Jose Ministral after being hit in knee by fastball.
The Toronto Blue Jays lost outfielder Joey Loperfido in the sixth inning of Tuesday's game against the Colorado Rockies.
Loperfido was forced to exit the game after taking a 98.2 m.p.h. fastball off the outside of his right knee from Rockies reliever Angel Chivilli.
Blue Jays' Joey Loperfido had to be helped off the field after taking a 98 MPH fastball directly to the knee.
Myles Straw entered to pinch run and took over the No. 8 spot in Toronto's batting order and in left field.
Loperfido was 1-for-2 with a single in the game before being hit by Chivilli.
Blue Jays manager said in his postgame presser that Loperfido's X-Rays came back negative so it's a right knee contusion and is day to day for now.

The 26-year-old has been a revelation for the Blue Jays since being recalled to the majors on July 6. He entered play Tuesday with a .386/.427/.543 slash line with three home runs and 10 RBIs in 23 games.
Drafted by the Houston Astros in the seventh round of the 2021 June Amateur Draft, Loperfido was acquired by the Blue Jays alongside Will Wagner and Jake Bloss in a deal for Yusei Kikuchi at last year's trade deadline.
