Toronto Blue Jays utility man Davis Schneider is ready to run it back in 2026.

Davis Schneider appeared on Sportsnet's Blue Jays Talk podcast with Sho Alli on Tuesday to discuss how clubhouse chemistry was so special this past year, the departure of Bo Bichette, and playing under manager John Schneider.
Now 26, Schneider played a key role in Toronto's run to Game 7 of the World Series, punctuated by his unforgettable leadoff home run in Game 5 - a swing that instantly became part of Blue Jays lore.
«It's still kind of a blur,» Schneider said. «As a kid, I always dreamed of getting to the World Series and hitting a homer. Just getting the chance to lead off a game like that was really cool. Everything happened so fast.»

While the postseason heroics stood out, Schneider emphasized that Toronto's success was rooted in something deeper, a clubhouse that clicked from the very beginning.
«From spring training on, it felt like everyone in that room got along,» he said. «When all 26 guys are giving everything they have, it makes it a lot easier to connect off the field, too.»

Schneider reflected on the departure of Bo Bichette

That dynamic will look different heading into 2026, as the Blue Jays prepare for their first season without Bo Bichette, who departed in free agency after signing with the New York Mets.
«It's definitely going to be weird,» Schneider admitted. «He's been one of the best hitters in baseball since he came up in 2019. That's not just luck or talent, he works incredibly hard and deserves everything he's achieved.» Beyond his on-field production, Bichette's presence will be missed in the clubhouse. «He was just a great guy to have around,» - Schneider told Sportsnet's Sho Alli on Blue Jays Talk.

Schneider is set to begin his fourth major league season, all of which have come under manager John Schneider - a relationship he credits as instrumental to his growth.
«He's got a big heart and he genuinely cares about his players,» Schneider said. «When you play for someone like that, you want to give everything you have to win for him.»

After falling just short of a World Series title, Schneider believes the Blue Jays are poised for another deep run in 2026.
«Hopefully we can run it back,» he said.
