Josh Donaldson breaks down one of his favorite interactions with former Toronto Blue Jays skipper John Gibbons

Josh Donaldson shares his thoughts on one of many interactions he had with manager John Gibbons in his time with the Toronto Blue Jays.
Former American League MVP Josh Donaldson joined joined the 6ix Inning Stretch Podcast with former Blue Jay Whit Merrifield and co-host Lindsay Dunn to discuss his time in Toronto.
One of the more interesting topics was Donaldson's heated exchange with Gibbons on the bench when he tossed his bat in the Blue Jays dugout after striking out for the second time in a game versus the Yankees back in 2016.

"I came into the dugout and smacked my bat and he was standing pretty close to that, and when I smacked my bat it snapped and I threw it down the dugout and I'm pissed and I'm yelling at him. He comes over and and says, "was that directed towards me? I'm like no Gibby I'm pissed, I just got struck out for the second time and then he gets in my face and grabs me, and they he kind of like pushes me and then I started pushing back."

After the incident, the Blue Jays PR guy, Donaldson and Gibbons came up with a funny story to present to the media who were seething for answers after the game was over.
«I was just coming back to the dugout, hit my bat against the [wall]. Gibby just asked me what kind of cologne I was wearing,» Donaldson told reporters. «I said, 'It's this new cologne called Tom Ford, I just got it.'»
Wreaking of sarcasm, Donaldson continued to enlighten the laughing reporters about Gibbons' interest in his scent.
«He got pretty close to me and I guess he got a good whiff of it. I was like, 'hey man back up,'» said Donaldson. «I was like, 'I said I would give you some after the game,' so we separated.»
When the Blue Jays showed up in Cleveland for the next series, Tom Ford sent everybody in the clubhouse a bottle of cologne.

The now 39-year-old made two all-star teams, won an MVP and two Silver Slugger Awards during his tenure in Toronto.
Donaldson, of course, was also a key cog in the Blue Jays' trips to the ALCS in 2015 and 2016.
Over 462 games with Toronto, the star third baseman slashed .281/.383/.548 with 116 home runs.
In 20 post-season games with the club, he raised his game, posting a 1.000 OPS.
