It appears George Springer's return to the Toronto Blue Jays lineup is right around the corner.

Toronto Blue Jays designated hitter George Springer has been sidelined since April 11 with a fractured big toe, but he took part in hitting and running drills again on Tuesday, marking his second consecutive day of progress.
According to manager John Schneider, there’s a chance Springer could be activated today.
The Blue Jays will their make their decision in the next hour or so, per Keegan Matheson of MLB.com.
#BlueJays are still making their decision on George Springer. Could be activated today. We should know within the next hour or so.
Matheson Joined TSN's FirstUp on Wednesday, and said "ideally Springer will be back today."
"Springer should be back today ideally" This morning on #FirstUp, @KeeganMatheson shared the latest on the health status of George Springer and Addison Barger, and explained why we should be seeing Springer back with #BlueJays50 very soon! 👀

George Springer's return could be a fateful turning point in Blue Jays' season

Before the injury, Springer was batting .185/.290/.370 with two home runs and four doubles.
His absence has been felt at the top of the lineup, where a mix of players—including Ernie Clement, Nathan Lukes, Myles Straw, and Davis Schneider—have rotated through the leadoff spot.
Toronto has had a rough stretch with injuries throughout April.
Alongside Springer, players like Addison Barger and Alejandro Kirk, as well as several pitchers, have missed extended time.
However, there are signs the team is beginning to recover, highlighted by Trey Yesavage making his 2026 debut in Tuesday’s win over Boston.
Even so, the pitching staff remains depleted, with key arms such as Cody Ponce, Max Scherzer, Shane Bieber, and José Berríos still unavailable. On the position-player side, Kirk, Lukes, and Barger have yet to return.
Given all that, getting Springer back quickly would be a major boost. While he struggled early in the season—posting an .185/.290/.370 line (86 wRC+)—he appeared to be heating up before the injury.
In the three games leading up to it, the 36-year-old recorded a double in each contest and posted an .896 OPS.
Ideally, Springer would return to the elite form he showed in 2025, when he produced a remarkable 166 wRC+ and 5.2 fWAR.
Even if he falls short of that level, his experience and stability at the top of the order could provide a much-needed spark for an offense that has struggled to produce.
At present, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is the only player on the roster with an OPS above .800.
As a team, that needs to improve dramatically for the Blue Jays have any chance at making another postseason.
