Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Anthony Santander was supposed to start a minor-league rehab assignment on Tuesday with the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons.
The Blue Jays slugger's rehab stint was pushed back after he experienced back tightness while taking swings, according to manager John Schneider.
"Hopefully nothing crazy," Schneider said. "He was just swinging a lot... back kind of locked up on him a little bit."
Anthony Santander is still in Toronto recovering from back tightness due to the sheer amount of swings taken from both sides
The team will give Santander one or two days to recover before sending him to play his first rehab game, according to The Athletics' Mitch Bannon.
Anthony Santander is still in Toronto. #BlueJays are taking it day to day before sending him on a rehab:
«Just taking it a day at a time, making sure he feels good. So could be tomorrow, could be the next day.»

Toronto was aiming for Santander to get at least five rehab games in before he returns to the major-league club.
Although it's a minor setback, it continues a frustrating and injury-ravaged season for Santander.
The outfielder has been out since May 29 due to a left shoulder subluxation he sustained crashing into a wall in a game against the Los Angeles Angels.
He struggled during the first two months of the season, hitting for a .179 average and .577 OPS with six home runs.
The 30-year-old signed a five-year, $92.5-million contract with the Blue Jays in the off-season that includes a third-year opt-out, sixth-year team option and deferred money.
