The Toronto Blue Jays continue to offer updates on Daulton Varsho and Max Scherzer. Both are of the positive kind as the players appear to be close to returning, with Varsho the nearer of the two.

While it was initially though that Varsho might re-join the club this weekend in New York, it now seems more likely that will make his debut on Tuesday when the Blue Jays return home.
Varsho DH'd in a game for Buffalo yesterday and looks good to play the field the next day and Sunday. The Jays will likely want to give him back-to-back days in the field in order to fully test out his arm. However, there is still a chance that he could return Sunday instead.
Manager John Schneider that they have been happy with Varsho's progress in throwing from centre field.
Max Scherzer is the other big name that is on the mend. The future Hall of Famer threw 27 pitches off a mound in a bullpen session yesterday. According to Schneider, everything is going smoothly.
It's okay... baby steps. - Max Scherzer
He's a bit further away than Varsho is and hasn't gotten to max effort yet and they need to test that problematic right thumb, but the development is a positive one nonetheless.
Scherzer was also seen in the outfield in Yankees Stadium working out with some of the staff.
The Blue Jays need all the help they can get right now so the sooner these two come back, the better. For Varsho, that could be within days.
