The Toronto Blue Jays and Major League Baseball mourns one of their own.
News broke on Monday that Mike Cadahia, a Cuban-born scout with 34 years of service in Major League Baseball, had passed away on Sunday.
Reporter Francys Romero broke the news, as did longtime insider Bob Nightengale.
This Sunday in Miami, Cuban scout Mike Cadahia passed away. He scouted for more than 30 years for the Angels, Rangers, Blue Jays, Marlins, and Mariners, among others. In addition to being a great professional, he was also considered a wonderful person.
While Cadahia most recently worked for the Washington Nationals organization, he had worked in the scouting department for many other franchises including the Toronto Blue Jays, Los Angeles Angels, Texas Rangers, Miami Marlins, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Seattle Mariners.
Had filled a variety of roles from international cross checker, to scouting supervisor, to director of international operations. Post-retirement, he also worked as a consultant.
He spent three years working for the Blue Jays as their East Coast Scouting Supervisor from 1999-2002.
Cadahia spent over three over three decades in baseball
Born in Cuba, Cadahia graduated from Miami-Dade University with a degree in Sports Management. Additionally, he also attended Florida International University and was fluent in both English and Spanish.
All told, Cadahia spent 34 years working in Major League Baseball.
Funeral services are set for January 17th.
Blue Jays Central joins the rest of the baseball world in mourning his loss.
