Welcome to the Toronto Blue Jays organization, Patrick Corbin.

Just a day after finalizing the deal, Patrick Corbin took the mound on Saturday for the Low-A Dunedin Blue Jays, making an immediate impression.
The left-hander delivered a strong outing, pitching five innings of one-run ball while racking up nine strikeouts.
The lone run against him came in the first inning and was unearned, the result of an error by outfielder Matt Scannell that allowed the Bradenton Marauders to get on the board early.
From that point on, Corbin was in control, limiting the Marauders to just four hits and one walk over the remainder of his appearance.
The 36-year-old threw 74 pitches, 53 of them for strikes, showcasing a full arsenal that included his slider, sinker, cutter, changeup, and four-seam fastball.
His sinker averaged 91.6 mph, while his slider proved particularly effective, generating seven swings and misses.

Max Scherzer a factor in the decision to bring Corbin to Toronto

As the Blue Jays manage rotation injuries to Trey Yesavage, José Berríos, Shane Bieber and Cody Ponce, Corbin figures to be a potential short-term solution.
Another factor behind Toronto’s decision to bring Corbin in is Max Scherzer.
The two were teammates on the Washington Nationals’ 2019 World Series championship team, and Scherzer reportedly spoke highly of Corbin’s durability and effectiveness to the Blue Jays’ front office.
According to Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith and field reporter Hazel Mae, Scherzer noted that Corbin can be difficult for hitters to face due to the way his fastball and slider work together, as well as his arm angle.
The Blue Jays asked Max Scherzer about Patrick Corbin and he gave his former Nats teammate a “glowing review.”

Scherzer told me & @thehazelmae: “He's a durable starter. He takes the ball and he presents challenges to hitters because his fastball-slider tunnel is really good.”
Corbin, now in his 13th Major League season, spent 2025 with the Texas Rangers, where he posted a 4.40 ERA over 155.1 innings.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider told reporters on Saturday in Chicago that the team will determine Corbin’s next steps following his outing in Dunedin.
