With Bo Bichette willing to move to second base, his market has opened up. But where will he end up?
While the main Christmas wish for fans of the Toronto Blue Jays, would be a reunion with their all-star shortstop, both the player and team have been mum on any prospective talks.
Now, with Bo stating an openness to moving around the diamond other teams have entered the fray.
While MLB.com contributor Andrew Simon says that the Blue Jays would be the perfect fit for outfielder Kyle Tucker, the top free agent on the market, he doesn't say the same for Bo. In fact, he feels that the San Francisco Giants might swoop in and sign the long-time Blue Jay to play second base.
All I want for Christmas is the Toronto Blue Jays to sign Bo Bichette and Kyle Tucker 💙🙏
While the Giants currently have Rafael Devers at first, former Blue Jay Matt Chapman at third, and Willy Adames at short, they have a gap at second base, and are currently projected towards the bottom of the league in terms of production from the position.
Signing Bo would close that gap.
Simon also that Bo's style of hitting would do well at the Giants home ballpark.
His contact-oriented, line-drive approach could also be a good fit at Oracle Park, an extremely tough venue for home runs but one that's favorable for other types of hitters.
No indication that the Giants have spoken with Bo
While the prediction might send Jays fans into panic mode, there has been no indication that the two sides have even spoken. So far, Bichette has only met with the Boston Red Sox, which he did during the winter meetings.
Bo is quiet by nature. That, coupled with the fact that he is currently enjoying his honeymoon, there is still a good chance that he will be a Blue Jay come 2026.
But anything can happen.
