MLB insiders connect top free agent Kyle Tucker to Toronto Blue Jays

Tucker, 28, is a four-time All-Star who is the consensus pick for this winter's top free agent.
He broke out with the Astros back in 2021, and since then he's hit a sensational .277/.365/.514 (143 wRC+) across five seasons of work.
USA TODAY columnist and President of the Baseball Writers Association's
Bob Nightengale even went so far as to predict that the Blue Jays will sign the slugging outfielder for upwards of a $400M long term contract. The
Dodgers and
Giants are also expected to vie for his services.
If anything, by bidding on Tucker, the Blue Jays will drive up the price for his services for other teams like they've done in the past.
In 2024 Tucker's resume was impressive enough that the Cubs were convinced to surrender top prospect Cam Smith and All-Star third baseman Isaac Paredes (alongside young starter Hayden Wesneski) in a three-player package to acquire Tucker ahead of his final year under team control.
While Tucker's bat would no doubt be a welcome addition, it would also mean further complicating an already crowded outfield situation for Toronto.
Anthony Santander is expected to be fully healthy next season and will take up one corner outfield spot, while Tucker would have to be the other.
Blue Jays better served to focus on Bichette and pitching needs
Tucker's profile may not exactly fit what the Blue Jays need, and while the team should focus on locking up Bo Bichette, Tucker could provide value with his big bat.
The Blue Jays would be better served locking up Bo Bichette, the franchise has shown an ample opportunity and willing to spend the money
But Tucker would look pretty cool in a Blue Jays uniform would he not?
