What a season it was for Sean Keys. The third baseman, who earlier in the year was named a prospect to watch, put the finishing touches on his debut season by going on a five game hit streak that included homering in three consecutive games. During his final ten contests, the 2024 4th rounder slashed .333/.477/.788.
His Northwest Player of the Week honours, made him the 12th Vancouver Canadians player to receive the distinction in 2025, extending the club's own franchise record.
Keys deserves the award too. In addition to his strong finish to end the season, the 22-year-old out of Bucknell University put up solid numbers during his first full season in the Blue Jays system. While his average was only .217., he hit 17 home runs and added 72 RBIs to go along with a .365. OBP and .405. SLG.
Keys' Player of the Week award wasn't the only record wasn't the only record he helped to set.
With his 19th home run, which occurred in the Canadians' 4-1 loss to the Everett AquaSox on Friday afternoon, Keys set both the single season and career home run marks for Vancouver. Fellow prospect Cade Doughty previously held the former, while he was tied with Peyton Williams and Garrett Spain for the latter.
Thanks in no small part to the contribution of Keys, the Canadians - the high-A affiliate of the Blue Jays - finished their 2025 season with 75, the second most in franchise history, just behind their 77-win season in 2023.
With the season he's had, Keys, who is the Jays' 27th overall prospect, has set himself up nicely for a promotion to Double-A New Hampshire in 2026.
