Bo Bichette's signing with the New York Mets brought much fanfare, his change of position may have brought more.

Many fans and analysts assumed that the former shortstop for the Toronto Blue Jays would switch positions, especially when his market wasn't as strong as he anticipated. But most thought he shift to second base; upon signing with the Mets however it was revealed that Bichette would be moving to third.
It was a surprise that caught many off guard, but with Francisco Lindor entrenched at shorstop it was a move made out of necessity. It's also made one baseball writer draw an interesting parallel.

Rusty first week at new position

A-Rod, who up until that point had been a shortstop, moved to the hot corner due to the presence of Derek Jeter
In other words, with a franchise icon and potential Hall of Famer at the keystone position, Bichette is acquiescing the position much like A-Rod did nearly two decades ago.
“In his case, Jeter played shortstop, it was understood. He was a four-time champion… he wasn't going to move Alex Rodriguez,…The same is true here with Francisco Lindor, who's kind of on a Hall of Fame arc as well. Maybe not quite as obvious as Jeter's was… and Bichette said ‘yeah, it's easier to do it if you know you're doing it for a star.." - Joel Sherman

While there is still a month before the regular season, he has his work cut out for him.
