Newest Toronto Blue Jays signing Kazuma Okamoto has quite the resume in Japan.

One of the top hitters in Japan for most of the last decade, Okamoto has hit .277/.361/.521 with 248 home runs over 4494 plate appearances with the Giants.
Newest Blue Jays acquisition Kazuma Okamoto has been one of Japan's elite sluggers over the past 8 seasons
The 29-year-old spent 11 seasons with the Yomiuri Giants, establishing himself as one of NPB's most powerful and well-rounded right-handed hitters.
He hit 27 home runs in 2024 and battled injuries in 2025, but still proved his worth by hitting .322 last season and greatly improving his performance against velocity.
Kazuma Okamoto home run totals by year: 2018: 33 | 2019: 31 | 2020: 31 | 2021: 39 | 2022: 30 | 2023: 41 | 2024: 27 | 2025: 15 (69 games)
Newest Toronto Blue Jay Kazuma Okamoto batted .333 with a 1.278 OPS in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, including this solo homer against USA that was ultimately the deciding run in the championship game.

Power is not the only thing on Okamoto's resume

That power will be a welcome edition to the Blue Jays lineup, but Okamoto's ability to make contact rounds out a very «Blue Jays» profile.
This lineup developed an identity of hitters who could wear down pitchers, work the count and land the odd uppercut along the way, which Okamoto seems to fit well.
Okamoto's third base defense was strong enough to earn Golden Glove awards when playing with Yomiuri Giants in 2021-22, though he has played an increased amount at first base in the last three years.
No one's going to confuse Kazuma Okamoto for being an above average defensive 3B but he's not a butcher either by any means. He can pick it.

Evidence below ⬇️⬇️⬇️
Scouts generally view Okamoto as at least a decent defensive third baseman at the MLB level, and his ability to also capably handle first base and left field adds to his versatility around the diamond.
