It was a homecoming for the Tanev brothers on Wednesday, as the Toronto-born siblings took a trip to Rogers Centre to cheer on the Toronto Blue Jays.
Chris Tanev, a defenseman for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and Brandon Tanev, a forward for the Utah Mammoth, met with Blue Jays pitcher Kevin Gausman before the game against the Milwaukee Brewers.
The brothers swapped signed jerseys with Gausman, a two-time All-Star, and also gave him a signed hockey stick.
The Other Tanev Brother: Gausy 😉🏒
Thanks to Chris and Brandon Tanev for visiting us at the ballpark!
While Gausman's never been confused for Tanev in Toronto, he says it's not the first time he's heard that he resembles the Maple Leafs' defenceman.
«When we revealed the City Connects, that was the first time someone had told me that. My first thought was that it's gotta be the hair.» Gausman added.
«I was telling [the brothers], if they saw me on skates, it would be pretty bad,» Gausman told CityNews before the game. «Zero hockey skills. None.»
The Tanev brothers grew up cheering on the Blue Jays, so despite playing for different teams on the ice, they're certainly rooting for the same team on the baseball diamond.
