Former MLB pitcher Ryan Dempster explains why giving Toronto Blue Jays young gun Trey Yesavage the early start could alleviate some postseason pressure.

Monday was an exciting night for the Blue Jays and their fans because it was the MLB debut of their star pitching prospect, Trey Yesavage.
It was one of the most dominant debuts in the Statcast Era, since 2008.
As shared by Sarah Langs of MLB.com on X, Yesavage generated 19 swings and misses.
That is tied with Connelly Early and Freddy Peralta for the fifth most in a single game. Only Jared Jones (22), Johnny Cueto (21), Shota Imanaga (20) and Alex Colome (20) had more.

How should the Blue Jays use Trey Yesavage with the postseason on the horizon?

Former MLB pitcher and Gibsons BC native Ryan Dempster was on Sportsnet's 590 the Fan, and gave his thoughts on how the Blue Jays might utilize the young phenom going forward.
Dempster also gauges his level of concern surrounding Jeff Hoffman and the bullpen on the full interview here.
"He's a new look it's something very unique, the delivery is something different than anything they're going to see in the league. He is like a unicorn in his delivery, the fastball/split combination is nasty, he could work out of the pen like David Price did as a rookie, or start a postseason game like Jaret Wright did for the Indians as a 21 year old in the World Series. It happens."

The Young Gun in Game 1? 🔥@Dempster46 explains why giving Trey Yesavage the early start could alleviate some postseason pressure.
Yesavage ended up pitching at five levels this season. He began at Single-A Dunedin before moving to High-A Vancouver. A stop at Double-A New Hampshire followed before moving on to Triple-A Buffalo.
When he got to the big leagues he showed he could perform at the highest level without breaking a sweat.
Trey Yesavage will pitch in Kansas City in some capacity, John Schneider says. When asked if Yesavage could start, Schneider acknowledged he could and then smiled. We can probably add 1+1 here. #BlueJays
The next step is the postseason, and with all the progression he's made up till this point, there is no reason that he cannot do the same in the playoffs.
It will be very intriguing to see where and how John Schneider and Pete Walker uses him going forward, and even more interesting to see how Yesavage performs.
