Another day, another MLB analyst speaking negatively about the Blue Jays offseason.
The latest to enter the fray? ESPN's Buster Olney, who recently made the remarks on TSN's First Up radio show.
From being far apart on a contract extension with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (Some sources say there is $100MM standing in the way) to failing to lure in big-name free agents, Olney doesn't see too many positives from the Blue Jays offseason.
Among the teams that are actually trying to get better in 2025, I think you can say that the Blue Jays have had the worst offseason of any of them. I mean it's been a total disaster.
He also goes on to state that if in fact the Blue Jays and Guerrero are that far off, it would be freeing for them to pivot to a sell-off.
We would like to compete in 2025, that looks like it's going to be difficult, and so maybe our mindset should be we're looking to turnover this roster, make the team, and put it in a much better position for '26, '27' and '28. - Olney explaining the Jays possible mindset.
If Ross Atkins and the Blue Jays can somehow find a way to bring in a power bat, it will slightly mitigate the anger and ire of fans. But it could be a long 12 months.
