There are plenty of signings on the horizon for the Blue Jays

There are plenty of big name free agents still available. The names on this list include Pete Alonso, Alex Bregman, Jack Flaherty, Nick Pivetta, and Anthony Santander. There is also the international signing pool. This is where the Jays are expected to make their biggest splash.

The window to sign international free agents opens on Monday and as many as nine names have been connected to the Jays. With over $6,000,000 to spend, this is an area where the Jays could plan for their future.

The IFA that's been connected the most to the Blue Jays is short stop Christopher Polanco. He is projected to sign at around $2.3MM. However, he is not the only middle infielder on the list.

There is also short stop Juan Sanchez, who is expected to go for around $1 million, as well as Kennew Blanco. The latter was supposed to sign last year but an age controversy held him back and cost him some dough. His bonus is most likely around $600,000. All told, the Blue Jays have committed roughly $4.5MM to the nine prospects, which gives them about $1.5MM to spare.

Just because prospects and teams have agreements in place, doesn't actually mean a signing will happen. Sometimes other teams swoop him with higher offers, or other players become available.

Which brings us to Roki Sasaki. The Japanese phenom will be the biggest name available in the IFA period. And while the Jays weren't previously thought to be in the running for the World Baseball Classic hero, various reports have the Jays as a surprise contender. Signing Sasaki would obviously complicate the other agreements the Blue Jays have in place.

That being said, it could be an exciting and busy time ahead for Toronto.
