The Toronto Blue Jays recalled Will Wagner from triple-A Buffalo and optioned outfielder Alan Roden to the Bisons on Saturday.

ROSTER MOVES:
🔹 INF Will Wagner recalled from Triple-A and will be active today
🔹 OF Alan Roden optioned to Triple-A
Wagner batted .186 with 11 hits and two RBIs in 20 games with the Blue Jays earlier this season. Wagner has taken 68 turns at the plate and produced a .186/.284/.220 slash.
His strikeout rate is basically average, and his 11.8% walk rate is excellent, but Wagner hasn't made especially strong contact and has been quite prone to hitting the ball into the ground.
It's only 68 plate appearances, but it's a disappointing follow-up to last year's .305/.337/.451 debut and this spring's .256/.341/.410 output.
Wagner will surely get future looks in the infield, be it as a regular at third base or in a utility capacity.
The 26-year-old from Houston was sent down to the Bisons in late April and missed some time in May due to a foot injury.
Roden hit .206 with one home run and eight RBIs in 42 games with the Blue Jays.
The 25-year-old rookie missed three games last week due to right knee inflammation.
The Blue Jays (44-37) sit three games back of the New York Yankees for the division lead and have won three of their past four contests.
Right-handed pitcher Chris Bassitt heads to the mound Saturday as the Blue Jays look for another win over the Boston Red Sox.
