Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider provided an injury update on George Springer ahead of Thursday afternoons matchup with the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Toronto Blue Jays may be getting George Springer back sooner than they expect.
Speaking with The Athletics Mitch Bannon, Blue Jays manager John Schneider said he's hitting off a tee in the cage, "Looked pretty normal, which is good, "He's feeling better."

Springer will not need a rehab assignment, aiming for return against Guardians

Springer will likely not need a rehab assignment, and the toe he fractured will just be "annoying" for a couple weeks, per Schneider.
According to Hazel Mae of Sportsnet. The Blue Jays are aiming for Springer to return for their next homestand, which begins Friday, April 24 against the Guardians.
Injury Update: George Springer hit in the cage yesterday and today - just off the tee, and some flips, but “looked pretty normal, which is good.” John Schneider continued to say there will be no need for rehab assignment, the toe will just be “annoying” for a couple weeks
The 36-year-old fractured his left big toe last Saturday during Toronto’s 7-4 home loss to the Minnesota Twins.
During the third inning of the game, Springer fouled a ball right onto his foot, injuring his toe in the process.
Prior to the injury, Springer was hitting a 1.85 batting average, recording two home runs in 14 games this season.
The 2026 MLB season is Springer’s sixth season with the Blue Jays since making the move to Toronto from the Houston Astros back in 2021.
Schneider praises the fact that Springer’s injury wasn’t serious and came early in the season, as Springer’s resiliency as a team player would have seen him push his way back into the lineup not at 100 percent.
