The Toronto Blue Jays and New York Mets lie in wait as the New York Yankees standoff with free agent Cody Bellinger gets closer to Spring Training.

After missing out on Kyle Tucker and Bo Bichette earlier this offseason, the Blue Jays are still searching for a top-of-the-order bat.
Those misses make the latest update on Cody Bellinger especially encouraging for Blue Jays fans.
According to New York Daily News columnist Bill Madden, the Yankees are unwilling to go beyond their reported five-year, $155-160 million offer and are not interested in a bidding war.
Hearing Yankees unfazed by the Dodgers' Tucker contract re:Bellinger and are not budging on their reported 5 year/$155-160 offer for him. According to one source: «They will not engage in a bidding war for him. They're at where they're at and that's not changing.»

Yankees firm stance could open the door for the Blue Jays to strike late

Foul Territory's Scott Braun believes the Blue Jays could emerge late and potentially swoop in to outbid both the Yankees and Mets.
The Blue Jays can easily beat the Yankees for Cody Bellinger, says @ScottBraun.

"The Yankees are sticking to their offer. They feel like they've offered him something nice, and I agree, but that doesn't mean the Blue Jays can't swoop in."
The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal added that Bellinger's agent, Scott Boras, is continuing to shop him to Toronto and New York, with a decision expected soon.
Boras, who has already closed two deals with Toronto this offseason (Dylan Cease and Kazuma Okamoto) may be waiting for the Blue Jays and Mets to up their ante.
The hold-up with Cody Bellinger could indicate the Yankees aren't the only serious players. 👀 @Ken_Rosenthal expects a decision to come within a week...
Bellinger, coming off a 29-homer, 4.9-WAR season, would give the Blue Jays a much-needed left-handed bat and defensive flexibility.
With the free-agent market thinning and long-term outfield needs looming, Bellinger stands out as one of the last impact options available for the Blue Jays.
